Providenciales, 08 Jul 2015 – Refurbishment on Government schools has already started despite there not being great interest in the tender process for jobs to fix up the 15 public schools across the country.
A budget of $600,000 is nearly doubled what it was last academic year and it is expected to make a major difference in the repair process during this summer break.
It was announced that the public would not see too many cosmetics like painting of the facilities but there is in depth work happening, considered far more important, like maintenance to walls, electrical repairs, installment of perimeter fencing for safety, fans and lights will be replaced, public health standards must be met and some plumbing; all new.
These jobs are more expensive and will absorb much of the bigger budget allotted by the PNP Administration for the upcoming school year.
While there is no work happening in Provo at this time, there is work already started in North and Middle Caicos and South Caicos which between them has six public schools.
The biggest of the refurbishment projects is at Clement Howell High School, here in Provo; next is the HJ Robinson High in Grand Turk.
Work is forecast to be done in time for school reopening in September.
